  • Began Teaching at PTC: I started teaching as an adjunct instructor in 2015 and became a full-time program instructor in 2022.

  • Outside of Work: I have been a member of the Happyland Volunteer Fire Department since 2014. I have worked part time on an ambulance service as an Advanced EMT since 2015 and recently became a registered nurse. In my free time, I enjoy riding my motorcycle, baking, and spoiling my dogs.

  •  Education/Background: I have a BA in Government with a minor in Education from East Central University.  I furthered my education at Pontotoc Technology Center and became a CNA, EMT, and then, Advanced EMT. I received my degree in Registered Nursing from Murray State College and became a RN in 2022. I am Firefighter 1 and Hazardous Materials Operations certified.

Messages from Mrs. West:

About teaching at PTC... Instructing at Pontotoc Technology Center is an investment into the future of the students and our community.  I encourage students to consider the nature of their education as a first responder and what it would mean to help others in need. I have often said, "If not you, then who will help?" I remind students that the skills they learn here at PTC are valuable tools that can launch them into many different areas of future study or employment.

To prospective students... Don't be afraid to try new or challenging things. Oftentimes, we learn more from our mistakes than from our successes. I like to say that students are like pieces of popcorn. All are exposed to the heat but they may 'pop' at different times. Hard work, determination, and a positive attitude can make the difference and leads to the seemingly impossible becoming achievable.
