Revised 9/2007 In an effort to insure patron and student safety and security, Pontotoc Technology Center (PTC) has a policy for crime and drug/alcohol prevention. We are proud of the record we have attained thus far. According to public law requirements, we hereby disclose information regarding crime on our campuses. 1. The PTC Board of Education shall endeavor to provide a crime-free campus environment for all employees and students. Consistent with this effort, all students and employees are required to report any actions of a suspicious nature to an administrator. Upon investigation by the Superintendent and/or his designee, local law enforcement officials shall be notified if deemed necessary 2. Facilities Security. The Superintendent and/or his designee shall be responsible for security of the campus during daytime, night, and weekend hours. During daytime hours students/staff can reach security at 580-310-2249. During nighttime and weekends hours students/staff should contact law enforcement at 580-332-4466. 3. Policy on Campus Law Enforcement. The Superintendent is designated as the head of security for the campus. He and/or his designee shall maintain a working relationship with local law enforcement officials. 4. Orientation and In-Service Procedures and Practices. All students, both adult and secondary, shall be informed and advised, during their orientation, to report any criminal acts or activities of a suspicious nature to their instructor and/or administrator. All employees will be updated annually regarding campus security and their responsibilities in this area. Instructors are required to encourage students to be responsible for their own security and safety as well as the security and safety of their fellow students. 5. Encouraging Crime Prevention. Administrators and employees of PTC work closely with local and state law enforcement officials to educate both secondary and adult students on how to protect themselves and their property. This is accomplished through campus-wide assemblies, classroom orientation, and individual student and employee conferences. 6. 7. P olicy concerning alcohol and drug use.Prevention of drug and alcohol abuse and crime is an ongoing task requiring effort from faculty, administration, students and patrons We feel education is one of the most effective deterrents for these offenses. PTC conducts a school-wide drug and alcohol abuse prevention assembly annually for all full-time and secondary students. Drug and alcohol searches are conducted randomly in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies. The PTC Policy and Procedures manual outlines the drug-free workplace policy for employees (3-2 section 1), as adopted by the Board of Education. Regulations for use or abuse of alcohol or drugs by students are outlined in the Student Handbook , 2007 - 2008, in section 6, page 35. 8. Sexual Offenses
